The Ghana Thoracic Society (GTS) was formed in September 2014 (and registered as an association/limited liability company) by a mixed group of healthcare professionals with an interest in respiratory disease training, management, advocacy and research.
The founding members are made up of doctors, pharmacists, nurses and a respiratory therapist who believe that by coming together as health professionals with an interest in respiratory disease the impact of scientific discoveries, research and our individual contributions could be magnified and projected in ways that could improve patient care far beyond our individual practice.
Membership is open to all health care and allied health professionals with an interest in lung disease, who are involved in patient care, teaching or research. There are a very limited number of Ghanaian doctors specialising in pulmonology or cardiothoracic surgery who are members.
